still living in the 70s

with melissa langton & mark jones

They’re back and they’re still banging on about the 70s. The greatest decade of popular music?! Really?

Are we to ignore the horror of Sister Janet Mead? Wasn’t ‘Hot August Night’ really just tepid? And what of the bloodcurdling ‘Me and You and a Dog named Boo’?

Melissa Langton and Mark Jones are limping out of semi-retirement on sequinned platform boots to deliver another throat-scorching, disco infused celebration of the best and the worst of the 1970s.

Who better to honour this decade of mirror balls and banjo playing frogs than the Captain & Tennille of cabaret?

She’s got the moves of Joe Cocker. He’s got Freddie Mercury’s teeth. She’s got the dress sense of the Bay City Rollers. He’s got the pure animal magnetism of Leo Sayer.

If you’re not ready for Bohemian Rhapsody played on solo recorder - you should probably keep your credit card details to yourself!

Songs include: I Feel the Earth Move, Roxanne, I Am Woman, The Streak, Live and Let Die, Short People, Love Will Keep Us Together, Jump in My Car, Tie a Yellow Ribbon, Imagine, Fat Bottomed Girls, Still Living in the Seventies and more!!

Say what you like about 70’s music - it was a great era for burnt orange wallpaper.

“An irresistible double act” The Melbourne Age

“Remarkable and riveting talent” The New York Cabaret Hotline

“Zest, irreverence and loads of vocal power” The Australian

“A powerhouse comic performance” The Sydney Morning Herald

Melissa Langton & Mark Jones have been one of Australia’s most popular cabaret acts for over 20 years. In 2001 they won the Sydney Cabaret Convention, and in 2002 won Melbourne’s prestigious Green Room Award for Best Cabaret Artist and together Mark and Melissa won Best Cabaret Duo and since then have been blazing a cabaret trail all across world! They performed to great acclaim in Dublin, Berlin, Vienna and wowed Manhattan on the opening night of the 2002 New York Cabaret Convention! They have an incredible 12 Green Room Awards between the two of them (OK, 10 of them are for Mark!)

At home they have performed to sellout crowds at Melbourne’s Chapel off Chapel, the Adelaide, Melbourne & Perth Cabaret Festival, and the Sydney Cabaret Convention. The regularly perform at corporate functions and theatres around Australia.

Their show is a night of sassy and powerful cabaret.  The song list wide and varied and shows off their flair for recreating the 70’s.  But their forte lies in their comedy numbers and in their soul drenched vocal fireworks.  In the words of The Melbourne Age, they are an “irresistible double act”!
